I'm glad you started posting again. I responded to some of your original posts 2 years ago. I'm now a Navy AC, mostly because of you. Thank you for your encouragement.

Yeah this is a great site. I found it when I came back from MEPS in Charlotte, NC back in November '08. I ship this month and after RTC I'll in Pensacola for my AC rating.

Anonymous,

I'll try to answer your main question: "is it easy to find a job?"

There are many different ATC jobs. The most common route is the FAA. That's what I'm doing and I received a job offer within 6 months of getting out of the Navy. However, it may take up to a year or more before I actually start working. Other options are Department of Defense (working at a military base as a civilian), contract towers (control towers operated by a private company under the direction of the FAA), or overseas military contract jobs (working for a private company in a combat zone under direction of the US military). It's not always a quick process, but most people I know who have tried to get ATC jobs are now working as ATCs. The money is good and I enjoy my job.

If you have more questions, contact me through one of the links on the blog homepage (email or facebook will be fastest). Thanks for reading.
